Poster filma "Nausikaja" iz 1984.Izraz za svaki animirani film ili seriju iz Japana. Često prepoznatljiv stil animacije likova s velikim očima i povremeno ozbiljnijeg i ambicioznijeg sadžaja za odrasle. Mnogi anime uratci su adaptacije tzv. Manga. Anime ostvarenja se objavljuju u kinu, na televiziji ili na videu i DVD tržištu ( tzv. OVA anime = Only Video Animation ) i danas su po svijetu već stekla veliku slavu. Najpoznatiji studio koji proizvodi anime je Ghibli ( za kojeg je radio velikan animea Hayao Miyazaki ), a važniji su još i Toei studio, Gainax i drugi. HIM, an alternative rock band from Finland, was formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Hermanni Valo, along with Mikko Viljami "Linde" Lindström and Mikko Heinrik Julius "Migč" Paananen. The band started as a Black Sabbath cover band, and the name HIM originally stood for His Infernal Majesty; Ville Valo denies any Satanic intent. After many lineup changes, the band now consists of Valo, Linde, Migé, their 3rd Keyboardist Janne Johannes "Burton" Purttinen, and their 2nd drummer Mika Kirstian "Gas" Karppinen. The band is also widely recognizable by their heartagram design. It consists of a heart and a pentagram, which symbolizes the contrast between life and death or love and hate or even love and death together. Ville has also said that "the heartagram stands for HIM as a band, as an entity, and for 'love metal' in general." Despite a common misconception perpetuated by their sign, HIM is not a satanic band. Valo claims the band is a "gothic love metal band." Biography Early years (1996-1999) The bands EP titled 666 Ways to Love: Prologue was released in 1996 in Scandinavia. The album features the only publically known picture of vocalist Ville Valo's mother Anita. The cover of the Chris Isaak song "Wicked Game" sparked their popularity in Finland. The band performed in English, which was quite different than most bands in the area. HIM's first full length album, Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 was released in 1997 and gave the band significant exposure in the Scandinavian and German regions. The album included hit tracks such as "Wicked Game" (Chris Isaak Cover) and "When Love And Death Embrace". Sanna-June Hyde (Linde's girlfriend) and Asta Hannula provided guest vocals on the songs "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and "For You". The album was recorded at Finnovox, MD and Peacemakers in Helsinki, Finland. Hilli Hilliesmaa, the producer of their EP 666 Ways to Love: Prologue returned to produce this album as well. A special edition German package included the song "Stigmata Diaboli" taken from their EP. Rise to fame (2000-2003) The groups second album, Razorblade Romance was released on January 24, 2000. This album is what made HIM huge in Europe, especially Germany. The song and later-to-be single "Join Me in Death" is indirectly responsible for much of the attention. The song was featured in the sci-fi movie The Thirteenth Floor and reached #1 on the German sales charts. The now-platinum song is currently the biggest selling single in Finnish music history. The album was released in the US under the name of HER, by Jimmy Franks Recording Company (owned by Bloodhound Gang's Jimmy Pop). The name "HER" was used, because of a Jazz band in Chicago named H.i.M. that was not willing to give up the rights to their name. But eventually, HIM bought the rights and are now allowed to use their name in the United States and can release albums under it. The United States "HER" versions were released in the Boston area. Once the rights were bought the current copies were pulled and the re-released copies of Razorblade Romance were released nationwide under Universal Records. Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights, the band's third studio album, was released on August 27, 2001. This was the first album to feature the new keyboarder Burton. Initially the album was greeted with strong criticism of the songs' being "too American", though the band members have denounced these attacks. The special Digipak version includes two bonus tracks, "You Are The One" and "In Love and Lonely". The Christmas edition of the album was released with the three bonus tracks "Again", "In Joy And Sorrow (String Version)" and "Pretending (Cosmic Pope Jam Version)". Breaking the US market While the group's second and third albums were released in the US, the band didn't get a huge following until the release of their fourth studio album, Love Metal. The album, which was released on April 14, 2003, was well received by the media and further popularized by the Jackass stuntman Bam Margera who publicly displayed obsession with the band. This is the first album that does not feature Ville Valo on the cover; instead, the band's logo, the Heartagram, is displayed. The regular edition of the album was not released in the US until February 1, 2005 under Universal Records, licensed by Jimmy Franks Recording Company. The band's fifth album, Dark Light, was released on September 26, 2005 internationally and on September 27, 2005 in the United States. A new producer, Andy Wallace, was originally supposed to mix and produce the album. However, vocalist Ville Valo stated that Wallace made the band sound too "American" and fired him. A new producer, Tim Palmer, was hired. Palmer had previously worked with the band on 'Love Metal' and 'And Love Said No'. "Rip Out The Wings of a Butterfly" was released as a single. The album reached #18 in both the US and the UK. In Germany "Dark Light" reached #4. In an interview on the HIM video collection, Valo confesses the band does stand for His Infernal Majesty. The name was taken from a horror theme, much like one of the band's main influences, Black Sabbath. Genre Controversy The US Media in particular has frequently labeled the band as being part of the Gothic Rock subgenre. This is primarily due to the popularity of the band amongst Gothic teenagers and social groups. Valo himself has denied this statement and classifies the group as being "Love Metal". Valo has also been known to classify it as Scandinavian Blues. Most respectable critics like to classify the group as being Alternative Rock/Alternative Metal. Detractors of the group often label them as emo due much to their emotional based lyrics and generally softer music. Fans of the band usually argue that this is a misconception. Trivia The band's manager, Seppo Vesterinen, is also the manager of The Rasmus and has worked with Hanoi Rocks, a 1980s (though still going strong) glam rock band that was for a long time the most internationally successful Finnish band. HIM is the favorite band of professional skateboarder Bam Margera and fellow Singaporean Elfie Sain. Bam’s house is decorated with a huge heartagram and he has the same tattoos on his lower stomach, arm and wrist as Ville Valo. HIM has appeared several times on his TV show, Viva La Bam and in his movies, CKY. Hence, HIM is associated with "skate-music" in the States. Thus HIM is believed to have suffered over-exposure. Juliette Lewis (Actress and singer for Juliette and the Licks) appeared in the video for "Buried Alive by Love", which was directed by Bam Margera. Though he tries to hide his real identity by using Pus Sypope as pseudonym, band's drummer Gas (Mika Karppinen) is actually the masked blast-beating percussionist of the gore-inspired Finnish extreme metal band To Separate The Flesh From The Bones. The band HIM is also really close to another goth rock band The 69 Eyes and Ville Valo is also seen providing vocals on some of their songs. Lordi is a melodic theatrical heavy-rock band from Finland. They are mostly known for their unusual monster costumes and lyrical themes. The monster costumes are such an integral part of Lordi's publicity image that they refuse to be photographed or even interviewed without them.
